Thanks for all the Lenten ideas. I love the sound of that Canadian pioneer cookbook and can't wait to see what you make from it.

I love living in Montreal for all the amazing food there is to explore here!

Yes I've read the post, and bookmarked the Greek food blog you linked to read later. For lenten recipes just check out my blog! I have a few more lenten recipe posts that I haven't had time to put up yet but will soon hopefully. Which gives me an idea, I should make a post linking to all of the lenten recipes that are scattered all over my blog! Oh, and here's another website with a list of lenten recipes for Orthodox that I've used in the past: http://www.stgeorgepantry.org/vegetarianrecipes.html

I definitely recommend the Lebanese chick pea soup in the bean main dishes section. Cinnamon in a soup is surprisingly good!

I also recently googled vegan recipes to use for lent and came across www.vegweb.com, and I can attest to the deliciousness of the rosemary bread and chocolate chip cookies that are listed in the most popular recipes section! The rosemary bread I've already posted about, and the chocolate chip cookies will be coming up soon.

About old recipes... my mom gave me a cookbook of pioneer-era canadian recipes a few years ago. I've been meaning to try those recipes for a while now but it's been forgotten at the bottom of my bookshelf. I'll have to dig it out, start cooking and blog about it after Lent is over! Thank you for reminding me of that :)

Thanks, Chocolatesa, I'm glad you liked it. You certainly live in a great food town, I love Montreal. You mention on your blog that you're an Orthodox Christian. You might be interested in my recent post on the Medieval rules of Lent which are very similar the Orthodox tradition. Any Lenten recipe tips?

Let me know how the cask beer scene is in Montreal. Cheers!
